New Zealand Shake Out

At school today we had a earthquake drill.

The school bell started ringing.  It went ‘ring, ring, ring, ring, ring’ for ages like five minutes.

I quickly went under the table.  Everyone else in my class went under the table. Whaea Meri and Whaea Chanella went under the table too.

It felt real.  I kept thinking what it would be like if the building broke with things falling around us.  When the bell stopped ringing we lined up at the door. After that, I went to the field where the rest of the school was.

Instead of hiding in the cupboard or running outside I will crawl under the table to stay safe.

Trampoline Recount

Mangu and I

On Saturday I went outside to play on the trampoline with my sisters.  I jumped high. I jumped so high I fell off the tramp.  It hurt so much but I didn't cry, I just got a cut on my leg.  After that, I went to my mum.   She was making lunch with my sister Enid.  We had roast pork. It was super yum.  I had to clean the table.  I don't like cleaning the table.  I don't like cleaning at all….I hide. Sometimes I hide in my dad’s room. It’s scary!

After that I went back onto the tramp. My dog Mangu was barking at Te Ari Jack.  It was funny. I laughed and laughed and laughed. I said, “ha ha”.  Mangu jumped on the tramp with me.  He can do flips and tricks.  He barked and jumped very high.  When he made an angry face I got scared and jumped off.

Gaming at Uncle Bill's.

On the weekend I went to Uncle Bill’s.  I  jumped in my car with dad.  When we got to Uncle Bill’s house I jumped out of the car and said “hello” to Uncle Bill.  Then I went to go inside.  I played Call of Duty 1 with Tim and Sonny.  I like gaming.  They say I’m a game freak because I like playing games.  

When I was playing against Tim and Sonny I won.  We killed all the baddies.  We made it to another level. It was exciting.  I was saying “go, go, go”. I didn’t know where Tim was.  I was trying to find him, but he found me first and shot me with a sniper gun.  I was annoyed!  Sonny found him and shot him though.  It’s just a game.  It’s not for real...

We played games all day.  There was this skateboard game called Skate 3.  You get points by doing heaps of tricks.  We also played MX vs ATV.  It’s a motorbike game.  I found the sand dune level the hardest.

I ended up staying at Tim’s house.   Tim and Sonny got up at 4 0’clock and I got up at 6 o’ Clock.  We started playing the game again.

Triumphant Triceratops - By Maui and Toko

What I did:

I have been learning about dinosaurs.  My two favourite dinosaurs are T.Rex or Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops.  Triceratops is a plant eater.  He has three horns on his face.  He could fend off the most ferocious of dinosaurs.  Tyrannosaurus Rex has sharp teeth and a powerful jaw.  He likes to eat other dinosaurs.

I wanted to make an animation movie about these dinosaurs.  Toko helped me make my scenes and do my dinosaurs.

What I found hard:

• Holding the iPad still.
• Moving my dinosaurs tails and face in little bits.
• Taking heaps of photos was hoha.

Where to next:

I want to use different music, special effects and look at using different scenes in my work.  I think I could also help other people learn about making animation movies.

I have been working on changing my voice when someone is talking because sometimes I read like a robot.  I think I have improved in using expression when I read.  Here is a video of my reading.

Making my chocolate muffins

Yesterday we made chocolate muffins.  Whaea Gaylene, Takuira, Sonny, AJ and Huri came to help me in the kitchen.

First we went to wash our hands.  Then we put all the ingredients into the mixer.  We measured the flour.  We used 6 cups.  Then we measured the cocoa.  Then we put in baking soda.  After that we cut up the butter and put in a bowl.  It melted it in the microwave.  It was hot.  Sonny squirted the milk everywhere.  I got to eat chocolate. With Huri and AJ.

When it was cooked we ate it.  In room 4.
